Choosing seed

Other thing to make sure is that the seed comes from a 7-12 years old host.

Seeding

Stitching: if there is a dead seedling after being transferred to the growing media in the time span of one week, it’s best to replace that with another seedling. Heaping: During rainy season, the rain water can potentially erode the soil around your plant, and in order to solve it we can add more soil into it so that the soil doesn’t become a pool of water. This can be done when the turmeric is 3-4 months old.   

Fertilize: This step is the most important step in order to get the best nutrients and benefits from our turmeric. Use organic fertilizer or manure with an amount of 45 tons per acres with a plant amount of 160.000. 

Irrigation: turmeric is one of those plants that don’t really like excess water as it can damage it, thus, making an effective drainage around it very crucial as it can prevent pool of water during rainy season. With that in mind, the recommended times to water your turmeric is once every day to avoid drought. 

Spraying: If the turmeric is afflicted with pests or parasite, it’s best to do spraying with pesticide to avoid crop failure.

Harvest

Harvest is undoubtedly one of the most awaited moments in growing turmeric. Turmeric itself can be harvested when it reaches 7-8 months old of age. A telltale sign of turmeric that’s ready to be harvested is it color, changing from green to yellow. To harvest it, we can use hoe or pitchfork.
